The Project Manager (PM) will be solution focused and hold a wide/detailed knowledge of developing and delivering tailor made project forwarding solutions inclusive of chartering, heavy lift, OOG, rail and barge movements whilst working within challenging capital project environments. 




Strategic Job Functions

With a balance between solution and technical delivery the PM will ensure each project is delivered on time; on budget, best in class solutions which ensuring maximum client satisfaction and strategic opportunities for repeat business opportunity.  The ownership and coordination of subcontractor relationships will be key in order to maintain focus towards cost vs service delivery across project lifecycles whilst considering the seasonal aspect to capital project supply chains in the BeNeLux and surrounding markets.  As will be the focus towards compliance and HSE.




Roles and Responsibilities

• Leadership and strategic planning for all operational requirements pre & post award.

• Financial ownership of his/ her project.

• Leading by example, mentoring and leadership of team members to ensure continuous improvement across the team when working across project lifecycles.

• Oversight and coordination of all service delivery either project or non-project based.

• Best in class attitude to heavy lift and OOG movements across all modes.  Safety and accurate delivery first.

• High visibility at Site and Port - to oversee and coordinate load in and load out events.

• Subcontractor management and review, ensuring cost vs service delivery at all times

• Maintenance of broad range of subcontractor relationships to ensure a solution focused approach to project movements is always adopted.

• Best in class approach to both compliance and HSE.

• Awareness of specific movements such as RO/RO barge, Heavy Lift rail and trucking solutions tailored towards operating within Northern ports of Belgium & the Netherlands and surrounding European countries. 

• Close collaboration with DHL functional teams, Chartering, HSE, technical engineering, sales & BD

• Maintenance of preferred subcontractors and the awareness of poor performance and emerging service providers.

• The ability to negotiate and leverage to achieve the best outcome internally and for DHL's customers.

• Engagement with local, regional and global sales teams to provide support with specific customer solutions and/or bid responses.

• Key account management and awareness towards customer satisfaction.  Working closely with sales teams of key account plans.

• Recognise and praise success.

• Motivation of others whilst working within time sensitive environments.

• Staff training/Hiring - continuous improvement and encouragement.

Personal Requirements

• Minimum 5 years project forwarding experience, ideally with exposure to at least one mega capital project.

• Degree Educated

• Focused towards HSE and compliance.

• Strong subcontractor network

• Track record of achievement and success.

• Strong communication skills both internally and externally.

• Multi-lingual advantageous (good level of written & spoken English)
