Annual NAMA Status Report: upward trend continues while funding remains difficult

The number of Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) has increased 28% over the past 12 months. Yet securing funding remains a key obstacle: only 8.5% of all NAMAs have obtained implementation funding. In the latest Annual NAMA Status Report, Ecofys, a Navigant company and ECN provide an up-to-date overview of the global NAMA pipeline.
Presented during COP23 in Bonn, the report highlights the role NAMAs could play in supporting developing countries in the implementation of their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). In addition to the global stock take, the report explores key elements for designing successful/effective financial mechanisms for low-carbon programmes and discusses the emerging approach of mainstreaming circular economy in climate project pipelines.
As part of the Mitigation Momentum project, the report was funded by the International Climate Initiative of the German Ministry for the Environment.
