Ecofys supports Energy Partnership between the UAE and Germany

Ecofys, a Navigant company, supports the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) in strengthening an energy dialogue with the countries of the Arabian peninsula. The project reinforces the energy cooperation with the United Arab Emirates in the framework of a bilateral Energy Partnership.
In this context, Ecofys supported BMWi in implementing two high-level delegation visits for UAE representatives to Germany in November. Emirati experts and decision-makers from public institutions and energy companies visited Germany for a comprehensive programme of expert roundtables, site visits and exchange with industry representatives and officials. Three bilateral expert workshops ? on e-mobility and sustainable transport, energy efficiency in industry and energy efficiency in buildings ? brought together experts from the UAE and Germany. The delegates exchanged their views on technology trends and innovation, regulatory frameworks for energy efficiency and electromobility and sustainable transport and business models.
The Energy Partnership between Germany and the UAE was signed in January 2017 by State Secretary Rainer Baake and H.E. Suhail Mohamed Faraj Al Mazrouei, Minister for Energy of the UAE. The integration of variable renewable energies, electricity markets and energy efficiency were defined as topics for collaboration. The second meeting of the High-Level Steering Group of the Energy Partnership is set to take place in January 2018 at the World Future Energy Summit.
